Terms of Use
These terms are the agreement between you and {{LEGAL_NAME}} ({{LEGAL_STATUS}}), {{LEGAL_ADDRESS}} ("we", "us", "our") for your use of the Blazeshield Site Pro app and website (the "app"). By creating an account, starting a trial or using the app, you agree to them. Please read them with our Privacy Policy.
If you use the app for a company or other organisation, you confirm you have authority to accept these terms for it, and "you" includes that organisation.
1. Who the app is for
The app is a tool for engineers who work on fire detection and fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, electrical installations, CCTV, door entry and access control, smoke ventilation, gas suppression, extinguishers, risers and fire doors, and for the businesses that employ them. It also helps them prepare risk assessments and method statements (RAMS). It is for business use, not for consumers. You must be at least 18 and competent in the work you use it for.
2. Your account
- Give accurate details and keep them up to date.
- Keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens under your login.
- On the Team and Business plans, the account owner is responsible for the engineers and office logins they add, for removing people who leave, and for the paperwork recorded under the company account.
- Tell us straight away at {{PRIVACY_EMAIL}} if you think someone has used your account without permission.
3. Plans, free trials and payment
- Plans. The Free plan, the Solo, Team and Business subscriptions, extra engineer places, office logins and the optional set-up service are described in the app with their current prices. Office logins can view the company's paperwork and handle quotes, invoices and defects, but cannot fill in or sign certificates. The guide is free with an account. VAT is added where it applies.
- Founding member discount. The founding member discount applies to the Solo and Team plans. If you subscribed with it, it stays on your subscription for as long as it continues without a break. It ends if the subscription is cancelled or lapses.
- Free trials. Paid plans may start with a free trial. You don't need to give card details to start one. If you add a card before the trial ends, your subscription starts and your card is charged when the trial ends. If you don't, your account moves to the Free plan and your data is kept as described in our Privacy Policy.
- Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically each month or year, depending on what you chose, until you cancel.
- Cancelling. You can cancel at any time in the app under Account → Manage billing. Your plan continues until the end of the period you have paid for and is not renewed. We don't refund part-used periods, except where the law requires it.
- Changing plan. Upgrades take effect straight away and are charged pro rata. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current period.
- Price changes. We will give you at least 30 days' notice of a price change. It applies from your next renewal after the notice period, and you can cancel before then.
- Failed payments. If a payment fails and isn't put right, we may move your account to the Free plan. Your backed-up paperwork is then kept as described in the Privacy Policy.
- Fair use of photo and voice reading. Paid plans include a monthly allowance of photo and voice reading for each engineer place, shown in the app. When it runs out, everything else keeps working, including typing results and the phone's own voice reader. We may change the allowances with at least 30 days' notice.
- Payments are taken by Stripe, our payment provider. We never see your full card number.
4. Your content
You own the certificates, asset lists, quotes, photos, signatures, notes, price lists and other information you put into the app ("your content"). You give us permission to store, copy, back up and process your content only as needed to provide the app to you, for as long as we provide it.
You are responsible for your content: that it is accurate, that you have the right to record it (including your clients' details, photos and signatures), and that it is lawful. Please photograph equipment and defects, not people.
Signatures. A signature added to a certificate, report or RAMS, whether on site or through a link sent to a client, is recorded as given by the person named. On Team and Business plans, the account owner is responsible for making sure only authorised people sign for the company, and for removing access when someone leaves.
5. Data protection
How we handle personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy. For the information about your clients and their premises that you record in the app, you (or your company) are the controller and we are your processor. The data processing terms in the Schedule below apply to that information and form part of these terms.
6. Acceptable use
You must not:
- use the app for anything unlawful, or to create false or misleading certificates or records;
- try to get round the app's security or its safeguards, access other companies' data, or interfere with the service (for example by overloading it or introducing malicious code);
- copy, reverse-engineer, resell or rent out the app, or share one login between several people beyond the engineer places you have paid for;
- copy or scrape the app's content, checklists, calculators, certificate and report layouts or designs, or use them to build a competing product;
- upload anything you don't have the right to use, including copyright documents shared with others.
7. Our app and content
We (or our licensors) own the app, including its design, software, guide text, checklists, calculators and templates. While you have an account and follow these terms, you may use them for your own business. You may give certificates and reports you produce to your clients.

The BS 5839-1:2025 guide in the app is an independent summary written in our own words. It is not a copy of the standard and is not affiliated with or endorsed by BSI. British Standards are copyright of BSI. The BS 7671 quick-find is our own index pointing to regulation numbers; it does not reproduce BS 7671, which is published by the IET and BSI. Manufacturer names and product names belong to their owners. Links in the Panel Library go to third-party websites that we don't control, and manuals you save are for your own use.
8. Important: professional responsibility
The app is a tool for competent engineers. It does not replace the relevant standards and regulations (including BS 5839-1, BS 5839-6, BS 5266-1, BS EN 50172 and BS 7671), manufacturers' instructions, the fire risk assessment, the requirements of any certification or registration scheme you belong to, or your own training and professional judgement.
- You are responsible for holding the qualifications, registrations and insurance your work needs, for the design, installation, commissioning, inspection, testing, servicing and certification of the systems you work on, and for everything you record in, or issue from, the app.
- Electrical certificates follow the layout of the published model forms. Test results, limitations, observations and their codes (C1, C2, C3, FI) and the overall assessment are your decision. Limits and warnings the app shows are aids, not a substitute for checking against BS 7671.
- RAMS and dynamic risk assessments: the hazard library, risk scores and standard method steps are a starting point. You (or your employer) remain responsible under health and safety law for assessing the risks of each job, choosing the controls, and stopping work when it isn't safe.
- Checklists, templates and guide content cover common requirements. They may not cover every situation or the latest amendment of a standard. Always work to a current copy of the standard.
- Calculators (battery, detector spacing, voltage drop, loop load, maximum Zs, cable sizing and others) and the BS 7671 quick-find give estimates based on the figures you enter and on simplified assumptions. Check results, and any regulation the quick-find points to, against the standard and the manufacturer's data before relying on them.
- Quotes use the prices and rates you set. VAT options and hints are general information, not tax advice.
9. Photo and voice reading
- Some features read photos (for example a consumer unit, a tester's screen or an emergency light label) or spoken test results and suggest what to fill in. They use an AI service provider, described in the Privacy Policy.
- Suggestions can be wrong or incomplete. They are shown for you to check, and nothing is saved until you accept it. You are responsible for checking every value against what you see and measure.
- These features may be updated, limited or withdrawn, and some may be marked as new or in testing. Fair-use allowances are described in section 3.
10. Availability, support and keeping copies
We work to keep the app available and your backed-up paperwork safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. We may carry out maintenance, and we may change, add or remove features to improve the app. If we remove a feature that is a main part of a paid plan, we will tell you and you can cancel.
For help, email {{PRIVACY_EMAIL}}. We aim to reply within two working days. We don't offer a guaranteed response time or level of service unless we have agreed one with you in writing.
Paperwork is saved on your device and, on paid plans, backed up online. Deleted items stay in the recycle bin for 90 days. You should keep your own PDF copies of certificates you issue, as your records system. If your paid plan ends, backed-up paperwork is deleted after 90 days, as set out in the Privacy Policy, so download anything you need first.
11. Our liability to you
- Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law.
- We are not liable for loss of profit, revenue, business, contracts, goodwill or anticipated savings, or for any indirect or consequential loss.
- We are not liable for loss arising from you relying on any checklist, guide content, calculation, template, certificate, risk assessment or photo and voice reading suggestion without checking it as described in sections 8 and 9.
- Subject to the first point, our total liability to you for all claims arising from the app in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period, or £100 if you are on the Free plan.
12. Claims about your work
If someone makes a claim against us because of certificates, reports, risk assessments or other records you created or issued with the app, or because of content you uploaded without the right to do so, you will cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim. This does not apply to the extent the claim is caused by our own breach of these terms or our negligence.
13. Suspension and ending
You can stop using the app and delete your account at any time under Account → Privacy & your data. We may suspend or close an account if payment isn't made, or if there is a serious or repeated breach of these terms, giving notice where it is reasonable to do so. We may also suspend access straight away if it's needed to protect the security of the app or other users' data. When an account ends, your information is handled as described in the Privacy Policy. Sections 7, 8, 11, 12 and 15 continue to apply after the account ends.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example to reflect new features or changes in the law. The date at the top shows when they last changed. We will tell you in the app or by email before significant changes take effect. If you don't agree with a change, you can cancel before it applies. If you keep using the app afterwards, the new terms apply.
15. General
- These terms, the Privacy Policy and the Schedule are the whole agreement between us about the app.
- If any part is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a right straight away, we can still do so later.
- Only you and we have rights under these terms. Nobody else can enforce them under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
- We may transfer this agreement to another business that takes over the app. We will tell you if that happens.
- We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.
- We keep your content confidential. Our staff and providers only access it to provide, support or secure the app, or where the law requires.
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
Questions about these terms: email {{PRIVACY_EMAIL}}.
Schedule: data processing terms
These terms apply where we process personal information for you as your processor, under Article 28 of the UK GDPR.
| Subject matter and duration | Providing the app to you, for as long as you have an account, plus the retention periods in the Privacy Policy. |
|---|---|
| Nature and purpose | Storing, backing up, synchronising and displaying your paperwork, and producing PDFs, so you can record and report on the fire safety, security and electrical systems you work on, and prepare risk assessments. |
| Types of personal information | Names, job titles, phone numbers and email addresses of clients and site contacts; site addresses; signatures; photos; notes; names and signatures of engineers on risk assessments; and anything else you choose to record. |
| People it relates to | Your clients, their staff and site contacts, and anyone else you record in the app. |
We will:
- process that information only on your documented instructions, which are these terms and your use of the app's features, unless the law requires otherwise (in which case we will tell you, unless the law prevents it);
- make sure anyone we authorise to process it is bound by confidentiality;
- keep it secure, including encryption in transit, database access rules that keep each company's data separate, restricted administrator access, and daily backups;
- use only the sub-processors listed in the Privacy Policy (currently Supabase, Netlify, Stripe, Anthropic for photo and voice reading, and our email provider), under written terms that protect the information to the same standard. You give general permission for these, and we will tell you in advance about any new sub-processor so you can object;
- help you, as far as reasonably possible, to respond to requests from people exercising their data protection rights, and with security, breach notifications and data protection impact assessments;
- tell you without undue delay after becoming aware of a personal data breach affecting your information;
- let you download your information at any time, and delete it when your account or subscription ends, as set out in the Privacy Policy, unless the law requires us to keep it;
- make available the information reasonably needed to show we meet these obligations, and allow and contribute to reasonable audits, at your cost and with reasonable notice;
- transfer it outside the UK only with the safeguards described in the Privacy Policy.
